Snowflake Obsidian Gemstone
Formed as an extrusive igneous rock, obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass. Usually deep black to blackish-green in appearance, snowflake obsidian includes clustered crystals of the mineral cristobalite that create a snowflake-like pattern with inclusions of white. This translucent, semi-precious stone comes with a hardness of 5-6 Moh. The amorphous rock, obsidian, displays a vitreous luster and contains a conchoidal fracture. The healing properties of this stone are believed to dissolve traumatic and painful emotional thoughts and experiences. Usually sourced from places with a history of volcanic eruptions, its deposits are also found in Italy, Scotland, and the United States. It is used widely for rings, bracelets, and pendants and must receive proper care. Finely cut in shapes like chips, round, cabochons, and rondelles, GemsforJewels offers authentic snowflake obsidians. Our services also include customization on orders.
